Donate to support PRIESTS/SEVAKS of our Ancient Temples
It is a known fact the priests, for their livelihood, in the smaller
ancient temples depend only on the few devotees who visit the
temples. They are not paid even a meagre salary and are also
expected to run the daily activities of the temple. In spite of the
economic hardships they continue to serve God and Dharma.
Who we are ?
We are Indic Collective, a registered trust whose mission is to safeguard the architectural and spiritual
heritage of our ancient temples, ensuring they continue to stand as beacons of culture, faith, and history
for generations to come. Rooted in Chennai, we are a dedicated community of volunteers, historians, architects,
and devotees working tirelessly to preserve these sacred sites.
What we do ?
We help the sevaks of the ancient temples by providing them with a monthly amount of Rs 5000. This will help them for
their livelihood and also enable them to continue their service to dharma. These ancient temple sevaks are in great need of extensive help from
us. We must do what we can to help these sevaks and ensure that they
are able to continue to serve the temples. In ancient days, besides
fulfilling the spiritual needs of a person, the temple was a place
for learning, dedication of music and dance.
Why we do ?
The temple ecosystem keeps afloat the Dharma in the villages of Tamil Nadu. It keeps people rooted to their religion,
dharma and values. Conversion becomes impossible when the local temple functions well and people go there regularly.
The village temple archakas and sevaks are now “endangered species” We have to at once start supporting them
to ensure they do not become “extinct”.
There are about 35000 village temples under Government control. They do not even get Rs. 5000/- per annum, which means these individual temples do not even
get Rs. 40 a day. Shouldn't the preservation of these temples be our next goal of Dharma?
The Agamas tell of unspeakable punyam (merit) which is incurred by supporting the efforts to preserve the sacred sites.

How can you help ?
We urge our users to donate in their ability in helping these ancient
temple sevaks. For thousands of years, Hindus have built temples as the
abode of their deities, to create a central place in cities, towns, and
villages, where communities gather and spend time in spiritual pursuits.
It is our duty to help keep these temple ecosystems alive and ensure
that the people who serve Dharma and God are receiving the support they
need.
Donate now and also spread the word by sharing the link to others. Let us commit to providing Regular support to Deserving sevaks and helping them in service to dharma.
Note: Hindu Donations is not the official representative of the temples. We are committed to supporting the Temple Sevaks to help them in their service to Dharma. The funds raised in this campaign are not for any specific temple but rather for the sevaks who play an important role in maintaining the temple ecosystem.

Indic Dakshina: Help temple servitors to cope with the COVID lockdown
Hindu Temples act as the nerve-centres of dharmic activities. Most of the small temples are run by
the donations received from the devotees visiting the temple. There is an elaborate ecosystem that ensures
the continuity of the daily worship of the devatas. The Priests, ritualistic art performers, and
other Ambalavasi (temple servitors) communities work day in and out with devotion for keeping dharma alive.
These servitors of the divine feed their families from the offerings provided by the visitors
in most of the tiny rural shrines. The lockdown for combating the Covid–19 pandemic had almost stopped the
flow of devotees to temples pushing the temple servitors into poverty.
We ran a fundraiser in the year 2020, aimed at helping the temple servitors combat the Covid-19 lockdown. The fundraiser was a huge success and managed to raise Rs 50 Lakhs in donations.
The proceedings of the fundraiser were disbursed to >1000 temple servitors – priests, musicians, cooks, sweepers, florists etc from 342 temples across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Odisha, Karnataka and West Bengal.
The complete details of the temples served in this fundraiser can be found here
