Sri Kailasanathar Temple in Parameswara Mangalam, originally known as Saileswaram, dates back to the latter part of the 9th century during the Pallava reign under King Nrupathunga (869-880 CE). Located on an island in the Palar river, accessible via a walkway bridge, the temple features a prominent Dakshinamurti murti at the entrance. The garbhagriha houses the main deity Sri Kailasanathar, with Vinayakar and Murugan flanking the ardha mandapam. Recent renovations have altered some of its original antiquity, including the addition of a shrine for the Amman deity, a recent inclusion facing south.
