The temple is thought to have been established during the early period of Dravidian temple architecture, which flourished between the 6th and 12th centuries AD. It likely began as a small shrine dedicated to Lord Ganesha, a deity who has been worshipped in the Indian subcontinent since ancient times. Over the centuries, the temple has grown in size and significance, becoming a prominent centre for worship and community activities.
